We decided that we would go to the drive-in tonight, so I took the kids and we went to the store to buy some treats. Winni got really excited when she saw that I was buying popcorn. I reminded her that the popcorn is for when we watch the movie. She seemed ok with that answer and walked away. Then she came back and told me, "Mommy, I watching a movie, I need popcorn!" She had gone in my room and turned on the TV so she could have popcorn!!

Tonight Winni sat in the chair and patiently waited for her turn to get her diaper changed. She usually comments on Trae being poopy or stinky but today he was just wet. I guess she decided that opened up the conversation for further observation. She said, "Mommy, Trae has a noodle!" I was a little shocked and said, "What are you talking about? Where?" She said, "On his bumb, his other bumb!" I told Walter and after laughing he told me we CANNOT call it a noodle!

Off to Mesquite!! Woo Hoo!!! My sister, Becky, is watching our kids while we take a little "vacation" for a few days! We are heading down to Mesquite, Nevada today. It will be nice to be just the 2 of us for a few days, but I know I'm gonna miss those cute kids!!

We got up early this morning and headed downtown for the Days of '47 Parade! July 24, 1847 is the day the Pioneers got to Utah, so the whole state celebrates! More parades, more fireworks and more red, white and blue!

Trae enjoyed waiting for the parade to start by finding dead grass and dead fireworks!

Winni enjoyed running in the street and dancing! She paused her dancing for a moment to pose for the camera!

CHEESE!!

These are our students from Taiwan...Samuel, Wayne, Ken and Patrick. They were good sports this morning! They didn't exactly know what they were getting themselves into and they didn't quite understand the concept of beauty queens....or why there were so many!!!

Saturday, July 21, 2007

This morning was the neighborhood Patriotic Breakfast, complete with Freedom Toast and Freedom Syrup! My parents were on the committee that started this tradition and it has continued even in their absence. The kids all decorate their bikes and theirselves with ribbons of red white and blue and we all cheer them on as they march in a parade around the park!

Gwen offered to push Winni and Trae in their stroller. Gwen's mom, Lori, ended up carrying Winni for most of the parade while Gwen pushed Trae. Winni was concerned because her dad wasn't with her!!

Mark and Jen brought their family to the event and Cora walked in the parade!

Walter and Mark were asked to do the flag ceremony. It was so fun to see my husband and my brother all dressed up in their uniforms!! I think it was just nice to see my husband at all!!

Welcome Home Walter!!

We went to the airport to pick Walter up today. By the time we got there both kids were asleep, so I scooped them up and headed in. By the time Walter came out Winni was awake but she was scared of him! It didn't take long before she was hugging him and wouldn't let him out of her sight!

Tonight we had a Welcome Home Walter/Happy Birthday Trae BBQ! It was fun.

Trae wasn't too sure about being handed this whole cake!

He slowly and carefully started eating it! He kept getting the chills and shaking his head NO!

Once I broke it up for him a little, he was pretty much done! He wasn't sure why all these people were staring at him! So much pressure to perform!

This was the scene all night long...Winni grinning from ear to ear because she had her daddy back home! He can't even go to the bathroom without her wondering where he has gone and wanting him to come back!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO TRAE!!! My baby is 1! I sang Happy Birthday to him this morning and he giggled and hid his face! He is so funny!! I told Winni that daddy comes home tomorrow. All she could say is, "I want my daddy! Go get daddy!" She is definitely ready for him to come home!

Wednesday, July 18, 2007

Tonight we went to my brother's house to play games. Trae became fascinated with putting things in the garbage, which he often does at home. He was playing with everything, including my phone. When it came time to go home I couldn't find my phone. The battery was dying, but I hoped it had enough juice for me to be able to call it one more time. I called it, and sure enough it was in the bottom of the garbage can!! Thanks Trae!!

This morning Winni watched me get dressed. As I put my bra on she said, "Mommy, I wear boobies!" hahahaha I told her we would talk about it when her dad gets home.....I'm gonna need at least another 10 or more years before I'm ready for that one!!

Not that the previous story would imply this, but I have been trying to teach Winni about modesty. With so many male foreign exchange students in the home I don't want her ripping her clothes off and running around naked. So, I've been teaching her by saying, "Don't let John see your bumb!" Well, tonight we took a giant step backward. I had just gotten her and Trae out of the tub and was putting Trae's diaper on when Winni decided to drop her towel! So I reminded her, "Don't let the boys see your bumb!" What does she say?? "Boys, see my bumb!" as she sticks her bumb out! What am I going to do?!?

Monday, July 16, 2007

Today I got caught by Miss Manners!! It was only Winni, Trae and me so I burped. Then I heard a little girl turn to me and say, "Excuse you, MOM!" hahaha

Trae is getting so big! Now that he walks a lot, I've noticed how tall he is. I always knew he would pass Winni up, but I never imagined it would be when he is 1 and she is 2!! But, what can I expect, Winni is so small, and Trae eats like a horse!! He just cut his 3rd tooth, but he can already eat just about anyithing!

My first big purchase all by myself!! I'm so proud! I'm getting good at spending my husbands money!!

After a morning of fun and a sore back....it's complete!!

Gwen and Blake Brockbank came to help me. If you ask Blake, he did all the work! Now, they are having all the fun showing Winni how to play on the bunkbeds!

Last night I was changing diapers and getting my kids ready for bed. Mid diaper change little naked Winni got away. She went right over to the air vent, squatted over it and reached for her little girl parts, then she proclaimed, "I go pee!" Well, I don't think I've moved that fast in a long time!! We quickly got those girl parts covered and continued getting ready for bed!

Thursday, July 12, 2007

Tonight we went to Winni's friend, Dylan's birthday party. His mom is a good friend of mine. Trae was so funny. Lately whenever he sees a woman, he hugs her. A little forward, but so is his dad!! Anyway, last night he kept hugging my friends mother-in-law. It was so cute. Everytime he turned around and saw her he would reach for her and hug her, then come back to me!! I love that my kids love people, but someday I'll have to teach them about strangers!!

Tuesday, July 10, 2007

So, on the 4th Winni was very scared of fireworks. She was afraid of the big ones in the sky, but she got used to them and was ok by the end of the night. The next night we sat out front with our neighbors and watched them do their fireworks and she was terrified!! She wanted to go inside the whole time. We started out on the grass and ended up on the neighbors porch. Everytime a firework went off, she would say, "You hear that??? Fireworks!" However, now, anytime she hears something she says that! The other day she was sitting on the potty, tinkling, when she turned to me and said, "You hear that?? Fireworks!!"

Monday, July 9, 2007

I'm not sure what has brought this on, but anytime we go anywhere or someone comes over to the house, Winni says, "Hi, I'm Winni, this is Mommy and Trae." If there are more people that she knows, she will introduce them too!

Sunday, July 8, 2007

Once Winni was ready for church, she put her pink slippers on and said "I'm precious!!" hahahahaha Then she said, "I do princess!" I wasn't quite sure what that meant, so I followed her. She went out the front door and stood on the porch. She wouldn't allow me to come with, so i waited inside. She then proclaimed to the neighborhood "I'm a PRINCESS!" as she twirled. She was a little embarrassed when she looked up and saw me watching out the window. But, then she smiled and giggled! It was so cute!

I'm feeling a lot better today. My sister took my kids yesterday, allowing me to rest and take care of myself. My neighbor, Harold, gave me a beautiful Priesthood Blessing, reminding me that the Lord is mindful of me and my family and what we are going through at this time. It was so nice to hear, and know, that I will only be given as much as I can handle.

While Julie had my kids, they set up the slip'n'slide! Trae was more adventureous than Winni, as she just ran around screaming. She never quite got the concept of sliding on the slide and getting wet. Trae would crawl up to the spot where the water collected, and splashed around. However, if his face or head got wet, he got very upset!!

As for today, my kids are learning about cause and effect. Winni knocked Trae over, causing him to hit his head on a stool and giving him a bruise on his ear, very weird. But Trae, not taking that from a girl, turned and put his arms around Winni's neck and tackled her to the ground. They cried, I laughed, and we all hugged!

Thursday, July 5, 2007

Well, as much as I would love to forget today's events, I will never forget my sweet little girl. I had some things happen last night and this morning that made me worry that I might miscarry. I was very scared and I cried a lot. I had just hung up the phone and was sitting in the kitchen on the floor, crying, when Winni came up to me, put her arm around me and kept telling me, "It's ok mommy, you'll be ok. You ok, mommy! Don't cry, you're alright." I think my biggest fear in miscarriage is losing a sweet spirit, like those I've already got. My children have the most tender hearts.

Tuesday, July 3, 2007

Well, I had my appt with my midwife yesterday and she says I'm due in January. Could be the 3rd, the 15th, or the 29th! How's that for approximate! We are hoping for the 15th because the 3rd is so close to Christmas and the 29th is Winni's birthday. I guess we'll wait and see.

I've been thinking about buzzing Trae's hair for a few days now, but I know my husband will kill me if I do, but then I remembered.....He's not here!! Trae's hair grows so fast that he will probably need a haircut by the time Walter gets home, so I had my sister do it. And of course, we had to stop and take a picture with the mohawk before shaving it off!! He sure looks different, again. But he is handsome as ever!!

Monday, July 2, 2007

Usually Winni tickles and tickles Trae til he is laughing so hard!! This morning was a little different. For one, Trae was in my bed, that doesn't happen because when he wakes up at 6 AM he is wide awake! I gave him a bottle and we went into the kitchen to play. The next thing I know he is cuddled up to me, asleep. So, we went to my bed. About 1 hour later Winni came to my room to let me know she was awake and she wanted to cuddle too. So we did, then Trae woke up so we played a little. Trae had his head on my legs with his legs toward Winni, so she put her head on his tummy, and then the fun began. My children started playing the "ha-ha game" without any cohersion! Trae would say "Ahh" and make his tummy go up, causing Winni's head to bounce and they would both just laugh, then they would do it again. This went on for about 5 minutes! I couldn't stop laughing! These 2 are so cute!!

Sunday, July 1, 2007

Last night I woke up to a thud, followed by crying. Winni had fallen off of my bed, which happens on occassion, so I just scooped her up and gave her a hug, and then she fell back to sleep. Then in the morning when we woke up I noticed a little red spot under her eye. I looked over the side of the bed and there was the phone! The poor thing fell off the bed and hit her face on the phone! I felt so bad, I took a picture!

She will be sleeping in her own bed tonight!!!
